High Performance Solar Panels - do it right, do it once

The available roof space for solar panels on most houses is limited. Yet as we electrify everything, replacing gas and petrol, it's projected that we will nearly triple our power use. So when investing in solar we need to focus on maximum output per sqm and minimum degradation over time.

Improved high temperature performance

Solar panels don’t like heat. All panels lose performance for every +1°C above 25°C roof temperature.

 

The REC Alpha Pure RX panel performs the best in hotter weather – a critical measure due to Australia’s harsh climate and greater global warming induced extreme weather.

This higher performance in real climate conditions outside of lab is due REC's unique heterojunction technology.

 

REC's N-Type solar cells are bonded in between two layers of thin solar film. The outer layers insulate the solar cell within while also capturing additional solar light.

Longer lasting performance

Guaranteed 92% performance after 25 years

 

The REC Alpha Pure RX high performance N-type cells will lose less output over time than any other panel on the market - just -0.25% per year for a combined -8% loss over 25 years.

 

By comparison the standard loss for other N-type cells is -0.4% pa.

More solar produced per day

REC Alpha Pure RX panels use higher performing

N-type cells that operate in lower light conditions.

 

So more performance generating solar power earlier in the day, later in the afternoon and on cloudy days. 

 

To maximise performance REC also uses a panel glass with a higher performance HTAR (Highly Transmitted Anti Reflection) coating to enable greater power generation.

Most robust performance testing 
Most comprehensive warranty

REC is the only manufacturer to offer a 25 year free panel replacement warrantytransferable upon sale.

​

This is because REC panels are made for extreme weather conditions and are tested up to 4x International standards.

 

Spare panels are stored in REC's Singapore factory warehouse. So a panel fault failure in year 24 will be replaced for free (panel+labour+shipment) with the exact same panel, fitting exactly into the existing roof array.

 

Beware the small print. Most panel warranties allow for pro rata financial compensation. So a panel failure in year 10 of a 25 year warranty, would be covered for just 50% of the purchase cost of a new panel. You would then be liable for panel removal and cost of replacement.

Independently maximise the solar output of each panel

Solar panels vary in performance. With a conventional string inverter all panels drop in output to match the poorest performing panel on the string. In partial shading, this power loss is amplified with the whole string affected. But with an optimiser under each panel any power loss is isolated to just the panel affected.

 

Roofs with seasonal shading can increase their performance by up to +25%. Even roofs without shading can increase performance +5% through optimising panel output variance and isolating spot soiling and uneven distribution of roof heat load.

Flexible roof placement

With conventional string inverters every panel needs to be the same rated output and you only have two changes in orientation or pitch. Once the system is installed the only way to add future panels is to install an additional inverter. With optimisers isolating the performance of each panel, you can mix panels with multiple roof angles/pitches and retrofit extra panels to the same inverter.

Make your solar system scalable

With each panel performance isolated you can add extra panels to your inverter later on as your power needs increase.

 

Individual panel performance monitoring

Optimisers also enable performance monitoring per panel. So should there be a panel failure or under performance, auto fault reporting ensures the problem quickly fixed under warranty. In the meantime, the problem is isolated to just the panel affected.

Safe solar system shutdown

Optimisers also enable safe shutdown of the solar panels for maintenance. When the power optimisers are not connected to an operating inverter, they each limit their output to a safe voltage of 1V per panel.

High Performance Battery  Storage

Sigenergy SigenStor DC battery

Vertically connected battery modules are available in 5kW or 8kW and can be mixed to reach a desired storage capacity up to a maximum of 48kW (6 x 8kW modules) in a single stack. 

 

There is also an EV charging module that can be added to the stack and the battery is EV to Grid ready when this capability becomes commonly available.

In terms of performance, the SigenStor is capable of 100% depth of discharge with a round trip efficiency of 94.5% is one of the highest in the market. And it can charge/discharge at a rate of 4 kWh for the 8kWh modules.
